Shea Theodore delivers OT winner as Golden Knights even series

Shea Theodore scored the overtime winner as the Golden Knights beat the Mammoth 5-4 in Game 4, turning a tense finish into a series-tying result. Jack Eichel set up the play, sending a pass to Theodore for the goal that ended it in overtime. The win moved Vegas level in the series at 2-2 on Monday night ET.

Shea Theodore finishes the play in overtime

The Golden Knights were still pressing with less than a minute left in the extra period when Theodore glided into the slot and fired the puck on net. The shot beat the goaltender and sent Vegas past Utah in a game that swung sharply in both directions. The Theodore goal erased the sting of an earlier disallowed winner in overtime and gave the Golden Knights the result they needed after a difficult Game 3.

Vegas had taken control early and built a 3-0 lead in the second period, but Utah answered hard on home ice. Nick Schmaltz and Ian Cole scored about 30 seconds apart, Michael Carcone added his first career playoff goal, and Clayton Keller later put the Mammoth ahead 4-3 on a play that went off Theodore and in. Brett Howden then tied it again with his second goal of the game at the 10: 25 mark of the third period, setting the stage for the late finish.

Game 4 swings back and forth

Theodore was part of the decisive sequence from the start of the winner. Eichel delivered the pass, Theodore released quickly, and the puck found its way through for the overtime finish. The result gave Vegas a road win in a game that had already seen one potential overtime winner waved off for offside on Pavel Dorofeyev’s earlier goal.

The Mammoth had home ice, a 2-1 series lead entering the night, and momentum after taking Game 3. Vegas, which had lost that game, needed a response, and Theodore gave it one in the biggest moment of the night. The Golden Knights’ ability to recover after giving up the lead kept them alive and turned a shaky outing into a split series.

What the result means now

This was the kind of game that can reset a series. Vegas leaves with the confidence of knowing Shea Theodore can finish under pressure, while Utah has to absorb a painful overtime loss after coming all the way back from three goals down.

The series now moves forward tied at 2-2, with both teams carrying clear evidence of how quickly control can shift. If Game 4 was any indication, Shea Theodore is likely to remain a central figure as the matchup continues.
