Stena Line cancels Fishguard to Rosslare sailings as adverse weather disrupts travel

Stena Line cancelled Fishguard to Rosslare sailings today after adverse weather disrupted the Pembrokeshire route. The 1. 30am sailing from Fishguard did not depart, and the 2pm sailing was also shelved on Tuesday, April 7. passengers to check for alternatives as travel plans on the crossing were pushed into uncertainty.

What was cancelled and why

The affected service was the Fishguard to Rosslare crossing on the Ben My Chree. Stena Line said the sailings were cancelled due to adverse weather, while the Met Office forecast fresh winds of up to 24 MPH this afternoon, easing gradually into the evening.

There was no weather warning in place, but the sea state and wind conditions were enough to stop the vessel from sailing. The Ben My Chree, which is currently running out of Fishguard, is understood to be less resilient than larger ferries in strong winds and the sea conditions they create.

Stena Line advises passengers to change bookings

Stena Line told customers they could amend bookings online to an alternative sailing or route without any change fee or fare difference. The company also warned that passengers should take care when making changes because it may not be able to fulfil every part of a booking on other departures, including cabins, Stena Plus and pets.

Travellers who cannot find a suitable alternative were told to contact Stena’s contact centre on +44 3447 707070 or +353 1871 4711., Stena Line said, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. ”

What else is running today

Other services in the area remained active. Irish Ferries services from Pembroke to Rosslare were running today, with the next sailing due at 2. 45pm and arrival in Rosslare four hours later. The Cleddau Bridge was also open to all vehicles.

For passengers watching the weather and planning the next crossing, Stena Line said the Ben My Chree is scheduled to run again tomorrow, when winds are expected to have calmed and gusts are forecast at four or five MPH. For now, the immediate focus is on rebooking, checking alternatives, and keeping a close eye on any further Stena Line disruptions.
