The Oakland County Sheriff’s office said authorities are clearing the building.

Multiple local and federal law enforcement agencies were engaged at the site. The Jewish Federation of Detroit issued a precautionary instruction: “We are aware of an active security incident at Temple Israel. Law enforcement are responding. Our Jewish agencies are currently in precautionary lockdown We ask community members to stay away from the area at this time. ” Bloomfield Hills Schools moved into secure mode and the Bloomfield Township Police Department directed nearby schools and organizations to take protective measures.
