D4vd Arrested After Teen Found Dead in Tesla, Police Say

d4vd has been arrested in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez after her decomposing body was found in a Tesla registered to him. The Los Angeles Police Department said the 21-year-old Los Angeles resident is being held without bail on an alleged murder count. The case is set to be presented to the L. A. District Attorney’s Office on Monday for filing consideration.

What police say happened

Officers responded on Sept. 8 to an impound lot in Hollywood after a foul odor was reported coming from a vehicle, police said. Investigators later found a body in the front trunk of the Tesla, which had been towed there two days earlier after it was found abandoned on a Hollywood street. The vehicle was registered to David Burke, whose professional name is d4vd.

The body was identified as Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a 14-year-old from Lake Elsinore in Riverside County. Investigators confirmed she had been reported missing in 2024. Police said the teen may have been dead for several weeks before her body was found.

d4vd and the criminal case

The arrest is based on evidence and probable cause developed in the investigation, and police said it was not an indictment. That distinction matters because the next step now sits with prosecutors, not a court filing already in place. The Los Angeles Police Department said the matter will go to the district attorney’s office for review Monday.

At the time the body was discovered, d4vd was on his Withered world tour. The final shows of that tour, including dates in San Francisco and Los Angeles, were canceled, and the European leg was also canceled. Promotion for the deluxe edition of his debut album was paused as well.

Background and broader context

d4vd first gained attention on TikTok and has nearly 4 million followers, investigators said. In October, police confirmed to ABC News that Rivas Hernandez had been reported missing the year before, adding to the long gap between her disappearance and the discovery in September.

Sources close to the situation previously said the case involved evidence suggesting more than one person may have been involved in the dismembering and disposal of the body. That detail remains part of the broader investigation, while the official case now moves toward possible filing review. For now, d4vd remains held without bail as the investigation and the district attorney review continue in Los Angeles, and the next development will likely come from Monday’s filing decision.
